Exploring the walking tracks of Coolum

Coolum is well known for it’s glorious wide open surflifesaver-patrolled beach, but many visitors may not realise the region also offers one of the best walking track systems on the Sunshine Coast, where you can explore and discover a unique side to this area.

Starting with popular Mount Coolum, you can go on the 45 minute trek to the top of the Mount, where you’ll experience amazing views overlooking the Coast from Noosa all the way to Caloundra. This is something every visitor to Coolum should encounter.

The Coolum Boardwalk is a great walking track for those that want to enjoy the views of Coolum. Perched along the top of the Coolum cliffs, the boardwalk starts from Beach road and heads up to Point Perry, one of Coolum’s most popular lookouts, and then allows you to continue through to Coolum beach itself. recently a sheltered area has been added, allowing you to stop and enjoy a rest if needed. It’s a great track, with views of the beach and surfers below, as well as views right up to Noosa.

Mount Emu is much smaller than Mount Coolum, but the views are still as equally impressive. Mount Emu is 72 metres high and gets it’s name from the Aboriginal word ‘Peregian’, which means Emu,due to the emus that could be found in the area. A pretty easy track at a leisurely pace and you’ll be at the top in around 25 minutes, and if you go in whale watching season, it is a great vantage point to see the annual migration pass by.

Stumers Creek is a lovely spot though many people have the misconception the water is dirty as it is ‘browned’ by the coffee rock which stains the water. You can enjoy a walk to Stumers Creek, with the walk starting at the Coolum Surf Club and leading through Lions Park where you’ll enjoy plenty of native birdlife and vegetation. A great spot for a family picnic.

There are also plenty of beach walks you can do while visiting Coolum Beach, but we’ll let you discover these yourself when you come and stay at Clubb Coolum Beach resort!!
